Accurately pinpoint the epicentre location, magnitude and velocity of an earthquake.
Quakes Don’t Wait
The Seismology Research Centre (SRC) sought out Gridstone to develop a mobile app that would speed up the current, tedious method of locating and reporting on earthquakes.
As it stood, this task could take up to 20 minutes. For a daily event lasting only a few seconds, this timeframe was simply too long.
To submit the report, SRC members often required the use of several applications. We knew how to help.
QuickQuake was created so the SRC could verify the automatic event notifications that their eqServer sends out by email.
Giving users instant access to the 60 seismograph stations throughout Australia in one simple app, would make locating the epicentre, magnitude and velocity of an earthquake a much quicker task.
Did you feel that?
The intensity of an earthquake greatly determines the damage that may be caused to people and buildings in surrounding areas. Knowing this information instantly allows necessary emergency services to prepare for any possible after effects.
Although the app was built for members of the SRC, the app does feature demo data for anyone interested in how the app, or earthquake reporting, works. A SRC account holder is able to work on and submit reports in real-time, giving other users relevant information instantly.
When new earthquake data is added to this enterprise app, members are alerted by push notifications, as indicated by their preferences.
QuickQuake features a configurable interface to accurately determine the location of an earthquake epicentre.
